Igor Korpaczewski

Igor Korpaczewski

Igor Korpaczewski focuses on human nature, his paintings reach the individual’s inner world. His portraits, and especially his whole figures, are not concrete. They are familiar people and at the same time total strangers. Their motionless pose in subdued colours implicitely invites the public to react.

Igor Korpaczewski has been working since 1993 as an specialized assistant in Jiří Sopka’s studio at Prague’s Academy of Fine Arts. He has also presented some realisations in the public space and along with painting he devotes himself to music. The important projects which definitely confirmed him as an author are without any doubt the exhibition Perfect Tense, 2003-2004, Prague (with an artistic meeting with Kateřina Štenclová) or the Prague Biennale, 2009 (also What remains, 2014 or KW Ghost, Drdová Gallery, Prague, 2013). The painter focuses on human nature, and his paintings reach the individual’s inner world. His portraits, and especially his whole figures are not concrete, they are familiar people and at the same time total strangers. Their motionless pose in subdued colours implicitely invites the public to react.

KW (pseudonym for Igor Korpaczewski) presents his figurative creation of the years 1998-2007.
